call it karma

Posted by iknowher

The retail world can be very small especially in the city so that's why you have to be careful when it comes cutting off certain co-workers/employees. You never know who you might end up working with again or never.....

Probably over 6 weeks ago I a customer came into my store with his friends. They were cracking jokes about how the employees must hate working here [my store] because the music sucked. Supposedly the music was awesome at his store. I replied "oh well I zone it out most of the time anyways since I'm the lead cashier and I have to manage the cashwrap." He then told me that I should stop by his store and fill out an application. He also mentioned that he was friends with one of the managers from a different location for the company I worked for. (I'm not going to deny it... he was good eye candy but I could sense he was checking me out and kind of weirded me that he was a manager and would have the audacity to recruit for his store across the street, lol.)

Well a week passed by and I stopped his shoe store where I noticed that the majority of the employees there were attractive Latin females... I gave him my application and he told me that he would call me in a few days to set up an interview. He also asked about what I thought about working at the store I'm at right now because his friend manager keeps on asking him to go on an interview with my district manager and I told him that it is to each their own (basically if he's happy where he's at right now in the shoe store that he should stay there.) A week and an half passed by and I finally get a voicemail from some girl saying that they had reviewed my application and that I should call the shoe store back (mind you she left no number but since I have T mobile I just returned the call back). When I get in touch with the manager and he asks me to come in during my break the following day for a quick interview.

The next day I rush during my break to the store. He tells me its going to be 5 minutes (those 5 minutes turn into 45minutes). At this point I'm starving and beyond pissed. Not only did I not get to eat anything he also reminding me of every hott asshole that walked all over me in my past lol. Once he actually came out to get me and I sat in his office for another 5 minutes. When he came into the office I told him they he basically had 10 minutes before I had to be back.

He asked me the usual questions and then started talking about himself (typical). Anyways he tells me that he's going to call me the next day with an offer. He would have to talk to the district manager in order to find out how much he could pay me. He also apologized for taking so long and I replied that he owed me lunch and he laughed. So he pretty much gave me the job on the spot except he never called me.

Ooooo so time passes by and I pretty much feel like I've been kicked around. The other day it's beyond fucking busy in my store (the day after Christmas is the new "black friday" so customers are ramming the store for sales) and guess who the fuck I saw standing around.... TADA. Mr. Shoe store manager. Turns out he was in my store waiting to be interviewed by my district manager and the head of stores of my company.

I felt like sharing my story to my store manager and she laughed said, "that's interesting because he was 15 minutes late. Seems like he likes to take his time." I don't know if he got the job but if he did hopefully it won't be at my store. I highly doubt that he got the job but then again retail has its ways. I was a bit tempted to approach him about the whole situation but that's like bumping into someone you gave your number to and they never called you after the first or second date (just leave it alone.) Pluuuus, I'm not very confrontational... more like passive aggressive.
